I
am a trained professional practicing pet massage and reiki since 2008. I learned pet massage and advanced pet
massage with energy work at the Pet Massage Institute in After
my 17 year old cat, Pinker, transitioned on Christmas Day a few years ago, I
wished I could have done more to make the end of his life more
comfortable. I started
‘massaging’ my Miniature Pinscher, Whooney, and realized how
relaxed he became. I wondered if there
were classes I could take to learn how to massage animals. When I found a program that I liked, I
registered for classes. Timmy,
the beagle mix, and I went to school together to learn this wonderful
skill. Later, I created my
business, Creative Pet Projects, llc. Since
learning pet massage, I work with rescues, shelters, agility meets and special
events to promote the physical and emotional relaxation that massage provides
companion animals. Massage is
more than ‘petting.’
It is a purposeful and carefully designed full-body workout that helps
the pet maintain a healthy balance between vet visits. I
am not a therapist; I do not diagnose or heal. I do assist the animal in relaxation
and through relaxation the animal actively participates in self healing. I
